Gradall Forklift Parts - All through the period when World War II created a shortage of laborers, the well-known Gradall excavator was established in the 1940s as the creation of two brothers Koop and Ray Ferwerda. The brothers faced the problems of a depleted labor force due to the war. As partners in their Cleveland, Bellevue construction business known as Ferwerda-Werba-Ferwerda they lacked the existing laborers in order to carry out the delicate work of finishing and grading on their freeway projects. The Ferwerda brothers decided to build a machine which will save their company by making the slope grading work more efficient, less manual and easier.

Their initial design model was a device with two beams set on a rotating platform which was attached atop a used truck. A telescopic cylinder moved the beams forward and backward which allowed the fixed blade at the end of the beams to push or pull dirt. Before long improving the initial design, the brothers built a triangular boom to add more strength. As well, they added a tilt cylinder that let the boom turn 45 degrees in both directions. A cylinder was positioned at the rear of the boom, powering a long push rod to enable the equipment to be equipped with either a bucket or a blade attachment.

Gradall introduced in 1992, with the introduction of the new XL Series hydraulics, the most innovative adjustment in their machinery since their invention. This new system of top-of-the-line hydraulics allowed the Gradall excavator to deliver comparable power and high productivity to the more conventional excavators. The XL Series ended the original Gradall equipment power drawn from gear pumps and low pressure hydraulics. These conventional systems effectively handled finishing work and grading but had a hard time competing for high productivity jobs.

Gradall's new XL Series excavators showed more ability to dig and lift materials. With this series, the models were made together with a piston pump, high-pressure system of hydraulics which showed distinct improvement in boom and bucket breakout forces. The XL Series hydraulics system was likewise developed along with a load-sensing capability. Conventional excavators utilize an operator in order to choose a working-mode; where the Gradall system can automatically adjust the hydraulic power meant for the job at hand. This makes the operator's overall task easier and likewise conserves fuel at the same time.

As soon as their XL Series hydraulics came onto the market, Gradall was basically thrust into the highly competitive market of equipment meant to tackle demolition, pavement removal, excavating and different industrial tasks. Marketability was further enhanced with their telescoping boom because of its exclusive ability to better position attachments and to work in low overhead areas.
